Just over a year ago Jim was walking home from supermarket shopping. Passing Fullarton ConneXions he peered in to see what was going on. Low & behold his neighbours Sam & Janice were working away, so he popped in. Since then Jim has become a key volunteer, keen worshipper & dear brother in Christ.
Jim nursed his dear wife long term until she died a few years ago. He had largely lost touch with church life over those 5 years, but hadn’t lost his faith. Now, connected again with God’s Family, he’s involved in cleaning, furniture shifting, prayer breakfasting, addictions’ outreach, attends morning & evening Sunday services and leads our new Job Club.
Meanwhile, Pam, also in her 70’s, has been single for over 20 years. After coming to faith about 20 years ago, she became a humble servant and respected elder, involved with pastoral care, home groups, Action Group dinners, care home services and morning & evening Sunday services.
Yesterday Jim & Pam became Mr & Mrs Hutcheson at our main morning service. They met, fell in love and were married with family, friends and brothers & sisters in Christ, all joining together in God’s Praise. Rev Jill Clancy, former Fullarton member, married her mum ‘Pam’ to step-dad ‘Jim’ making it even more special, while I conducted the service.
What a beautiful foretaste of Revelation’s great wedding feast of The Lamb, when ‘The Church’ (God’s People) will be married to Christ and spend eternity in communion with God, able to fully experience, express and explore his Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness & Self-control. Around 300 attended and over 200 overflowed into ConneXions café & Fullarton Hall for refreshments, sandwiches, cake & the chance to toast the bride & groom, and celebrate God’s Love at work among us.
As you can see Mr & Mrs H were radiant and released into their new life as husband & wife with the resounding encouragement & blessing of so many. Thank you Jim & Pam for helping us taste the joy which will be ours when ‘all who have said ‘Yes’ to God’s love for us in Christ’ step through death and greet your return with ‘I WILL LOVE AND CHERISH YOU FOREVER!’
“For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and his bride has prepared herself. She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear.” For the fine linen represents the good deeds of God’s holy people.” (Revelation 19:8-9)
